In a sweeping administrative move, the West Bengal Government has reassigned six senior IPS officers to critical leadership positions. This reshuffle, coming alongside the appointment of the new acting DGP, marks a significant change in the state’s security apparatus. Supratim Sarkar has been named the new Commissioner of Police, Kolkata, while Manoj Kumar Verma takes over the sensitive role of Director, Security. The restructuring also reinforces specialized wings like the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), Cyber Cell, and Intelligence Branch (IB) with veteran leadership.
