New Mandatory Deputation Rule
The MHA recently modified guidelines making a minimum of two years of Central experience at the SP/DIG level mandatory for IG empanelment for officers from the 2011 batch onwards. This move aims to ensure officers have sufficient exposure at the federal level before taking on senior leadership roles in the central government.
Significance of the Move
With this empanelment, these officers are now eligible for senior postings in:
-
Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) like the BSF, CRPF, and ITBP.
-
Central Police Organisations (CPOs) such as the CBI, IB, and NIA.
-
Key Ministries and other national security or policing roles.
The appointments will be subject to the availability of vacancies at the level of Inspector General.
