GUWAHATI — Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced on Tuesday that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has finalized its seat-sharing formula for the upcoming 126-member Assam Assembly elections. The ruling party will contest 89 seats, leaving the remaining 37 seats for its regional alliance partners.

Following a high-level election committee meeting, Sarma confirmed that the names of the candidates would be officially released following the BJP Central Parliamentary Board meeting scheduled for Wednesday evening.
