BENGALURU: Global luxury fashion major Ralph Lauren Corporation has appointed tech industry veteran Tathagat Varma as Vice President and Head of its Global Capability Centre (GCC) in India. Varma, who will be based out of Bengaluru, announced his new leadership role through a LinkedIn post on Tuesday.
The appointment underscores the growing trend of premium international brands scaling up their captive technology, digital, and supply chain operations hubs in India. In his new role, Varma will oversee Ralph Lauren’s strategic operations out of the Bengaluru center, supporting the luxury retailer’s global portfolio which spans premium apparel, accessories, home furnishings, and licensed products.
Prior to taking the helm at Ralph Lauren’s India GCC, Varma served as the global tech ops leader at retail giant Walmart Global Tech. With an extensive background in managing large-scale engineering and technology infrastructure, his corporate career also includes a significant leadership stint at digital personal finance company NerdWallet.
