Prime Minister Narendra Modi has officially dedicated the Alluri Sitarama Raju International Airport in Vizianagaram district to the nation, unveiling a ₹5,000 crore gateway designed to transform the economic trajectory of North Andhra Pradesh.
Constructed by the GMR Group, the state-of-the-art facility will launch full commercial flight operations on August 17, 2026. Built with an initial capacity to process 6 million passengers annually, the airport’s long-term master plan provides a phased expansion pathway up to 40 million passengers. The inauguration—conducted in the presence of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Union Civil Aviation Minister K. Ram Mohan Naidu—serves as the anchor project in a broader ₹18,000 crore state infrastructure rollout.
