The British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) has appointed veteran media and technology executive Harsha Subramaniam as Regional Director for South Asia.
In his new role, Subramaniam will oversee the BBC’s editorial content, business operations, and multi-language services across South Asia—including the BBC World Service verticals. He will lead a cross-functional leadership team spanning editorial heads, business operations, human resources, and finance to drive regional strategy, editorial standards, and audience expansion.
The appointment comes as the BBC expands its presence in the region, having reached an average weekly audience of 109 million people in South Asia last year—a 14% year-on-year growth.
