PATNA — In a swift top-level administrative reshuffle, Bihar’s Director General of Police (DGP) Vinay Kumar has officially opted for Voluntary Retirement from Service (VRS) to step into the role of the state’s Chief Information Commissioner (CIC).
The 1991-batch IPS officer tendered his voluntary retirement request on September 25, 2026, pointing to health and personal considerations. Facilitating an immediate transition, the Bihar Home Department waived the mandatory three-month notice period mandated under Rule 16(2) of the All India Services (Death-cum-Retirement Benefits) Rules, 1958.
