Indore has once again secured the title of Cleanest City of India for the eighth consecutive year, as per the Swachh Survekshan 2024-25 results announced today. Surat retained its second-place position, continuing its strong performance in urban sanitation.
The awards were conferred by President Droupadi Murmu at a ceremony hosted by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi.
Launched to foster citizen participation and spread awareness about urban cleanliness, Swachh Survekshan has become the world’s largest urban sanitation survey. Now in its ninth year, the 2024-25 edition evaluated over 4,500 cities across India using a smart and structured framework consisting of 10 key parameters and 54 indicators, focusing on sanitation, waste management, and service delivery.
The Centre emphasized that the mission’s core objective is to motivate communities to work collectively towards creating cleaner, healthier, and more livable urban environments.
