Justice Prathiba M. Singh of the Delhi High Court has been appointed as the Chair of the World Intellectual Property Organization’s (WIPO) Advisory Board of Judges for the term 2025–2027.
The appointment was officially congratulated by India at the United Nations on X (formerly Twitter), marking it as a “proud moment for India.” As Chair, Justice Singh will lead a group of international judges to provide guidance and direction for WIPO’s work with judiciaries in the field of Intellectual Property (IP).
Justice Singh’s Distinguished Career
Justice Singh, who became a Permanent Judge of the Delhi High Court in 2017, has an extensive background in IP law:
She chaired the first IP Division of the Delhi High Court during the 2021-22 Session.
Her advisory work has included streamlining the Copyright Office and patent examinations, as well as advising Parliamentary Committees on IP-related legislative amendments.
She is currently serving as the co-chair of the Working Group on Regulatory Consideration on AI in Health formed by the World Health Organization (WHO).
She is the author of India’s first comprehensive commentary on patent law, “Prathiba M. Singh on Patent Law.”
Justice Singh joins eight other international judges on the Advisory Board for the 2025–2027 term. She has previously been recognized with the Managing IP’s Asia Women in Business Law Award and was named among the 50 most influential people in IP in both 2021 and 2022.
