Three members of the US House of Representatives—Deborah Ross, Marc Veasey, and Raja Krishnamoorthi—introduced a resolution on Friday aimed at terminating President Donald Trump’s national emergency declaration that resulted in tariffs of up to 50% on imports from India; the resolution specifically seeks to rescind the additional 25% “secondary” duties imposed on August 27, 2025, which, combined with earlier reciprocal tariffs, raised the total duty under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA), calling the measures “illegal,” harmful to American consumers and workers, and damaging to US-India bilateral ties.
