Ranjit ‘Ricky’ Singh Gill, an Indian-origin senior adviser to US President Donald Trump, has been honored with the National Security Council’s (NSC) ‘Distinguished Action Award’ for his alleged role in facilitating the India-Pakistan ceasefire following Operation Sindoor. Presented by Secretary of State Marco Rubio, the award recognizes Gill’s “diplomatic outreach” during the May 2025 conflict. However, the recognition has reignited tensions with New Delhi, as Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Indian government have repeatedly asserted that the truce was a bilateral decision reached directly between the two nations’ DGMOs, without any third-party mediation.
