In his first press conference of 2026, Chief of Army Staff General Upendra Dwivedi affirmed that Operation Sindoor—the massive military response to the 2025 Pahalgam terror attack—remains active in its strategic intent. Launched on May 7, 2025, the operation involved an 88-hour precision strike that eliminated over 100 terrorists across Pakistan and PoK. General Dwivedi revealed that the Indian Army had mobilized for full-scale ground operations during the crisis, effectively expanding the “conventional space” and puncturing Pakistan’s nuclear rhetoric. While a ceasefire has been in place since May 10, 2025, the General warned that the military remains “fully prepared” to deal with any fresh provocation from Islamabad.
