SINGAPORE — Google has promoted Abhinav Rastogi to the role of Global Marketing Director for YouTube Shopping, effective February 2026. Rastogi, who has been with Google for over 12 years, previously served as the Director of Marketing for YouTube Asia Pacific.
The Vision: “A Shop Behind Every Video”
In his new capacity, Rastogi leads the global marketing strategy for YouTube Shopping, a three-sided marketplace designed to integrate commerce directly into the viewing experience by connecting creators, viewers, and merchants.
-
Creator-Led Trust: Rastogi noted in a recent LinkedIn post that the platform aims to capitalize on the trust creators have built with their audiences, making it easier for viewers to find and purchase recommended products.
-
Global Expansion: His mandate includes scaling the creator-commerce ecosystem worldwide, building on recent successful expansions in markets like Japan (via a partnership with Rakuten).
-
Massive Scale: The initiative has already onboarded more than half a million creators, positioning YouTube as a major transactional platform alongside its role in discovery and entertainment.
A Decade of Google Leadership
Based in Singapore, Rastogi’s promotion follows a highly successful tenure leading marketing for YouTube across the APAC region:
-
Product Innovation: He played a pivotal role in the regional growth of YouTube Shorts, YouTube Music, and YouTube Originals.
-
Regional Strategy: As APAC Marketing Director, he led creator engagement and brand reputation work across eight major markets.
-
Background: Before joining Google in 2013, Rastogi was a management consultant at BCG and Kearney, advising tech firms across Hong Kong, Australia, and the US. He is also an active angel investor in the consumer tech and EV sectors.
