In a major year-end administrative reshuffle on December 24, 2025, the Government of Assam transferred 13 District Commissioners (DCs) and several senior bureaucrats. The highlight of the reshuffle is the appointment of Aranyak Saikia (2020 batch) as the new District Commissioner of Karbi Anglong. The transfers, ordered by the Governor through the Personnel Department, impact key districts including Cachar, Sivasagar, Kamrup, and Tinsukia. This realignment is aimed at boosting administrative efficiency in the state’s newly formed sub-districts and strengthening the Finance Department with the induction of seasoned district heads.
