Pankaj Joshi, a seasoned 1989-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer and former Additional Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister of Gujarat, has officially taken over as the Chairperson of the Gujarat Electricity Regulatory Commission (GERC). Having served in the highest echelons of the state bureaucracy, including a stint as the Chief Secretary (in-charge/temporary) and head of the Finance Department, Joshi brings profound administrative and fiscal expertise to the state’s top power regulatory body. His appointment is seen as a strategic move to streamline Gujarat’s energy transition, balance consumer tariffs, and oversee the state’s ambitious renewable energy targets for 2026.
