Ms. Kanika, a 2022 batch IAS officer, has had her cadre transferred from Assam-Meghalaya to AGMUT (Arunachal Pradesh-Goa-Mizoram and Union Territories) on the grounds of marriage to IPS officer Utkarsha.
Such inter-cadre transfers are permitted under rules governing All India Services, particularly when both officers belong to different cadres and request to be posted together post-marriage. The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) processed the request as per established guidelines.
This transfer allows the couple to serve in the same geographical region, enabling better work-life balance while continuing their respective administrative responsibilities.
