Mr. Pavan Kumar Malapati, a 2012-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the Karnataka cadre, has been re-designated from Deputy Secretary to Director in the Ministry of Defence, New Delhi. This upgradation, approved by the Competent Authority on December 17, 2025, extends his tenure under the Central Staffing Scheme until June 17, 2030. An engineering graduate from BITS Pilani, Mr. Malapati previously served in several key roles in Karnataka, including Managing Director of KITS and Commissioner for Rural Development, before moving to the Centre in June 2025.
