Mr. O.P. Singh ({IPS} 1992 batch), who was previously holding the Additional Charge of the state police chief, has now been formally appointed as the Officiating Director General of Police (DGP) of Haryana until further orders; this official decision, announced on December 14, 2025, follows the formal relief of Shatrujeet Kapur ($\text{IPS}$ 1990 batch) from the post of DGP, two months after he was sent on leave amid controversy regarding the death of a fellow IPS officer; Mr. Singh will continue to retain his additional charges as Director General of the Haryana State Narcotics Control Bureau ($\text{HSNCB}$) and the Director of the Forensic Science Laboratory ($\text{FSL}$), Madhuban, but he is scheduled to retire on December 31, 2025, which necessitates the state government to quickly send a fresh panel of senior IPS officers to the Union Public Service Commission ($\text{UPSC}$) to appoint a full-time regular DGP.
