Mr. Mahesh Kumar Agarwal, a 1994-batch IPS officer of the Tamil Nadu cadre, has been appointed as the Special Director General (Human Rights) of the Border Security Force (BSF) on central deputation. Previously serving as the Special DG, CB-CID in Tamil Nadu, Mr. Agarwal’s shift to the BSF involves a dual responsibility; he has also been handed the additional charge of Special DG, Eastern Command, Kolkata. This high-level transition, effective from late December 2025, marks a significant move of a senior Tamil Nadu officer to a critical national security role.
