Indian benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty50 opened with strong gains on Tuesday, tracking a rally across Asian markets. The positive sentiment followed the announcement of a ceasefire deal between Iran and Israel, brokered by U.S. President Donald Trump, which led to a decline in global crude oil prices and boosted investor confidence.
The upbeat market mood was reflected in a massive surge in investor wealth. The combined market capitalisation of all listed companies on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) soared by ₹4.43 lakh crore, taking the total valuation to an all-time high of ₹452.25 lakh crore.
Global cues, especially the easing of geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, provided much-needed relief to equity markets, which had recently been under pressure due to rising oil prices and regional instability.
