SHILLONG (February 12, 2026) – In a significant administrative decision, the tenure of Ms. Idashisha Nongrang as the Director General of Police (DGP) of Meghalaya has been extended by six months.
Originally set to conclude her term in May, the 1992-batch IPS officer of the Assam-Meghalaya cadre will now continue to head the state’s police force beyond May 19, 2026. The extension is seen as a move to ensure continuity in leadership and maintain stability within the state’s internal security apparatus.
