NEW DELHI (Feb 11, 2026) – The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has appointed Shri Ajit Lal, a retired 1974-batch IPS officer of the Himachal Pradesh cadre, as the new North-East Advisor. He succeeds A.K. Mishra, whose tenure concluded recently.
A veteran of the intelligence community, Lal previously served as the Chairman of the Joint Intelligence Committee (JIC) and held a high-ranking role as Special Director in the Intelligence Bureau (IB).
