In a key administrative move at the Centre, Mr. Niraj Verma, the current Secretary of the Department of Justice, has been assigned the additional charge of Secretary, Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs. A 1994-batch IAS officer of the Assam-Meghalaya cadre, Mr. Verma will hold this post until January 29, 2026, or until a regular incumbent is appointed. This appointment ensures administrative continuity in coordinating legislative business between the government and Parliament during a crucial period in the 2026 calendar.
