New Delhi | April 12, 2026 — The Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) has formally appointed Vibhor Jain as its Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, effective April 7. Jain, who previously served as the Chief Operating Officer, had been leading the organization on an interim basis since the departure of former CEO Thampy Koshy in April last year.
Expanding the Digital Ecosystem
Under his permanent leadership, Jain aims to drive ONDC’s next phase of growth by leveraging open and interoperable digital infrastructure.
-
Strategic Focus: The network will prioritize use cases that traditional single-platform models often overlook.
-
Inclusion Goals: ONDC remains committed to building specialized services for small-scale participants, including farmers, artisans, small retailers, and gig workers.
New Senior Appointments
Alongside the CEO confirmation, ONDC has bolstered its executive ranks with two key hires to steer its business and technical strategies:
-
Rohit Lohia: Appointed as the Chief Business Officer (CBO) to oversee network expansion and participant onboarding.
-
Manoj Thakur: Joins as the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to manage the network’s evolving digital architecture.
The Road Ahead
The formalization of Jain’s leadership comes at a critical juncture as ONDC continues to challenge the dominance of major e-commerce players in India. By strengthening its senior leadership, the government-backed initiative signals a robust push toward creating a more competitive and decentralized digital marketplace.
