NEW DELHI (Feb 18, 2026) — Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju launched a blistering attack on Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi, labeling him the “most dangerous person” for India’s security. In a recent interview, Rijiju accused Gandhi of coordinating with anti-India forces and engaging in “theatrical” behavior that undermines parliamentary democracy.
Security & Extremism Allegations
The Minister leveled several serious charges regarding Gandhi’s associations both within India and abroad:
-
Anti-India Links: Rijiju alleged that Gandhi maintains ties with Naxalites, extremists, and radical ideologues.
-
Foreign Influence: He specifically named billionaire George Soros as someone Gandhi associates with to harm the nation’s interests.
-
Security Threat: Rijiju argued that these connections, combined with Gandhi’s position as LoP, make him a unique risk to national stability.
Criticism of Parliamentary Conduct
Beyond security, Rijiju took aim at Gandhi’s leadership style during the recent Budget Session:
-
“Childish” Behavior: The Minister described Gandhi’s protests and sit-ins as “child-like,” specifically citing an incident where Gandhi insisted on reading from an unpublished book by a former Army Chief.
-
Institutional Disrespect: Rijiju expressed frustration over the Opposition’s tactics, such as throwing papers at the Speaker and carrying banners, which he claims have reached an all-time low.
-
Epstein Controversy: He dismissed Gandhi’s attempts to link Prime Minister Modi to the “Epstein Files” as “baseless lies” that only cause public despair.
The “Rahulian” Congress
Rijiju also touched upon the internal state of the Congress party, following recent “dissident” comments from veteran leader Mani Shankar Aiyar:
“Congress once had mature leaders… slowly, the party has become like Rahul Gandhi. We could not imagine Congress continuing the same leader even after losing three times in a row.”
