Shri Sandeep Vasant Kadam, a seasoned 2008-batch IAS officer of the Himachal Pradesh cadre, has been appointed as the Government Nominee Director (Non-Executive) on the Board of Hindustan Zinc Limited (HZL). Currently serving as a Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Mines, Government of India, Kadam’s appointment reflects the Centre’s active oversight in one of the world’s largest integrated producers of zinc, lead, and silver. In this role, he will represent the Government of India’s interests—the minority shareholder—in the Vedanta-group-controlled company, ensuring alignment with national mining policies and corporate governance standards.
