NEW DELHI — Prime Minister Narendra Modi has addressed India’s diplomatic stance on the escalating West Asia conflict, asserting that the nation’s primary commitment remains to its own interests and global peace. Speaking at the TV9 Network Summit, the Prime Minister emphasized that India has successfully navigated the crisis through robust “Relationship Building” and “Crisis Management.”
Responding to global questions regarding India’s alignment in the multi-bloc conflict, the Prime Minister stated: “People often ask, ‘Whose side are we on?’ My answer is, ‘We stand with India. We stand with India’s interests. We stand with peace and dialogue.'”
Key Highlights from the Address:
-
Strategic Resilience: PM Modi noted that despite the global turmoil since February 2026, India has maintained a steady path of development and trust, presenting a model of supply chain diversification.
-
Criticism of Past Governance: The Prime Minister took a sharp dig at the UPA-era oil bonds, totaling ₹1.48 lakh crore, calling them a “sin” that burdened future generations. He stated that his government has had to pay over ₹3 lakh crore (including interest) to clear these debts.
-
Global Partnerships: He highlighted India’s unique ability to build “unimaginable bridges” between the Global West, the Global South, and the Gulf, solidifying its role as a trusted partner to all camps.
-
Domestic Stability: Amid faltering global supply chains for energy and fertilizers, the PM assured that the government is working to ensure minimum disruption for Indian citizens.
The Prime Minister’s remarks underscore India’s “India First” policy, balancing its deep ties in the Middle East with its strategic autonomy on the world stage.
