ABU DHABI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has declared that India is fully prepared to provide all necessary assistance to restore peace and stability in West Asia. The statement came during a high-profile meeting with UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan in Abu Dhabi, held against the backdrop of escalating regional conflict.
Strong Condemnation of Attacks
During the discussions, PM Modi vehemently condemned the recent drone strikes targeting the UAE, labeling the actions as completely “unacceptable.”
“We strongly condemn the attack that took place in the UAE. The way the UAE was targeted is unacceptable in any form,” PM Modi stated, affirming that India stands shoulder to shoulder with the Gulf nation.
He also commended the UAE President for demonstrating immense restraint, courage, and wisdom in navigating the highly volatile security situation. Additionally, PM Modi expressed his gratitude to the UAE leadership for ensuring the safety and well-being of the Indian diaspora during these challenging times.
Regional Fallout and Safety Concerns
The diplomatic meeting follows a recent drone strike on the Fujairah Petroleum Industries Zone, which resulted in injuries to three Indian nationals. The UAE Ministry of Defence has officially attributed the assault to Iran.
Strait of Hormuz Crisis
A central focus of the dialogue was the ongoing blockade of the Strait of Hormuz. The strategic maritime route was shut down by Iran following US-Israeli military actions on February 28.
PM Modi emphasized that keeping this vital waterway open, safe, and accessible is absolute critical for:
-
Regional peace and stability
-
Global energy security
-
Global food security
With nearly 20 percent of the world’s petroleum supply passing through the Strait, PM Modi called for strict adherence to international law to resolve the blockade, which continues to trigger severe volatility across global energy markets.
