NEW DELHI — The verbal feud between actor-politician Kangana Ranaut and yoga guru Baba Ramdev took a sharp turn, with the BJP MP taking to social media to criticize Ramdev over his recent remarks concerning her character and past choices.
The public clash follows Ramdev’s critique of Ranaut’s controversial comments regarding youth-led demonstrations at Jantar Mantar, where she had previously referred to certain segments of protesters using the term “generation gutter”.
Social Media Exchange and Court References
Responding directly to a media interview in which Ramdev questioned her childhood, youth, and past accomplishments, Ranaut posted a strong rebuttal on her Instagram account.
“Baba ji, don’t daydream about my jawani (youth) or bedroom… At least the Supreme Court has never named me in a case for false/fraud efficacy claims,” Ranaut wrote, dismissing his remarks as based on rumors and gossip.
Ranaut further contrasted her record with Ramdev’s prior legal troubles, referencing the 2024 Supreme Court case involving Patanjali Ayurved. In that matter, Baba Ramdev and Acharya Balkrishna submitted an unconditional apology to the apex court following proceedings related to misleading advertisements and claims surrounding traditional medicine.
Origin of the ‘Gen Z’ Controversy
The disagreement between the two prominent figures originates from Ranaut’s reaction to student-led demonstrations held at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi.
-
Initial Comments: The BJP MP had faced criticism after describing videos from the protests as jarring and labeling certain participants “generation gutter” over the use of abusive language.
-
Clarifications: Ranaut subsequently clarified that her comments were not directed at the broader youth population of the country, but specifically at certain individuals and groups involved in the demonstration.
-
Ramdev’s Reaction: Weighing in on the row, Ramdev termed her generalizations as a reflection of a “corrupted mind,” prompting Ranaut’s latest public response.
