MUMBAI — Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut offers personal observations on political and corporate figures in his upcoming book, Bodh Kirtan, questioning the characterization of industrialist Vijay Mallya and praising non-political addresses delivered by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The publication, slated for release in Mumbai, compiles personal interactions, parliamentary observations, and reflections gathered during Raut’s political career. The book features specific commentary on former Kingfisher Airlines chairman Vijay Mallya and an analysis of Prime Minister Modi’s public speeches.
Mallya Case Commentary and Financial Critique
In a chapter detailing his parliamentary interactions with Vijay Mallya, Raut rejects the fugitive classification applied to the former airline chief following his departure to the United Kingdom in 2016. Raut contends that Mallya’s financial situation stemmed from a commercial business collapse rather than fraudulent intent, arguing that banking institutions should have restructured debts instead of forcing an exit.
Raut contrasts the treatment of Mallya with corporate debt write-offs granted during the past decade, stating that Mallya sought temporary loan concessions rather than debt forgiveness. Mallya was formally declared a fugitive economic offender in 2019, with Indian authorities continuing legal extradition efforts over financial defaults.
Assessment of Executive Speeches
In a separate section titled Deepstambha, the opposition lawmaker evaluates Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s public communications. Raut distinguishes between the Prime Minister’s political campaign addresses and his cultural or non-political speeches, offering praise for the latter.
Specifically citing the Prime Minister’s address during the Ayodhya Deepotsav, Raut describes the speech as an impactful delivery that effectively framed governance ideals and national heritage through cultural imagery.
