NEW DELHI — The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Parliamentary Board has officially appointed senior leadership to oversee the election of the party’s legislative group leader in Assam.
In a press release issued on May 5, 2026, National General Secretary Arun Singh announced that Union Minister Shri Jagat Prakash Nadda has been designated as the Central Observer for the process. Shri Nadda currently serves as the Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare, as well as Chemicals and Fertilizers.
To assist in this process, the party has also appointed Haryana Chief Minister Shri Nayab Singh Saini as the Central Co-Observer.
Election Oversight Details
The high-level appointments signify the central leadership’s direct involvement in establishing the new legislative structure in Assam:
