SINGAPORE (Feb 7, 2026) – René Gerhard has officially assumed the role of Managing Director of BMW Group Asia, effective February 1, 2026. Based in Singapore, Gerhard will oversee operations across 14 diverse markets in the East Asia region.
A veteran with over 20 years at the company, Gerhard succeeds Lars Nielsen, who has relocated to Munich to head a newly established regional strategy division.
Career Journey: From Frankfurt to Singapore
Gerhard’s appointment brings deep institutional knowledge and extensive regional experience to the Singapore-based hub:

Immediate Past Role: President & CEO of BMW Group Thailand (2024–2026).

Australia Tenure: Served as Director of Sales & Dealer Development for BMW Group Australia, leading the brand to the top position in the premium market.

Early Career: Began his journey in 2002, gaining foundational experience in retail and wholesale operations across Germany (Frankfurt and Berlin).
