CHANDIGARH: In a significant leadership move within regional television broadcasting, senior journalist Braj Mohan Singh has taken charge as the Editor of News18 Punjab, Haryana & Himachal. The appointment marks a sentimental return to the geographical territory where Singh launched his journalism career more than twenty years ago.
Announcing the transition on his LinkedIn profile, Singh characterized the editorial assignment as a true “homecoming” to his original “karma kshetra”. He transitions into this regional leadership role following a successful tenure of more than five years with News18 Bihar/Jharkhand, where he managed core reporting and newsroom operations.
A Two-Decade Editorial Track Record
Singh transitions into his new editorial seat with over two decades of experience spanning print, television, and digital news platforms. His diverse professional trajectory features key leadership stints at major national and regional media institutions:
-
ETV Bharat: Served as the Regional Editor for a period exceeding two years.
-
Dainik Bhaskar: Held the position of Resident Editor for the newspaper’s Chandigarh edition for nearly four years.
-
Patrika TV: Formed part of the launch team as the founding editor of the television channel under the Rajasthan Patrika Group.
-
PTC News: Managed international and domestic newsrooms, directing reporting bureaus across India, the United States, and Canada.
-
NDTV (2002–2010): Spent nearly eight years with the network, rising to the position of Bureau Chief for North India.
-
The Asian Age: Gained crucial early-career print experience as one of the founding team members of the publication’s Gujarat edition back in 1998.
Strategic Mandate at News18
In his newly designated editorial capacity, Singh joins the network’s regional leadership collective. He will be responsible for defining the editorial stance, driving investigative journalism, and expanding viewership share across the highly competitive three-state broadcast region.
