SINGAPORE — Global asset management firm Franklin Templeton has appointed Rene Buehlmann as Head of Asia Pacific, placing the industry veteran at the helm of its strategic expansion across the region.
Buehlmann brings more than 35 years of executive experience across banking, wealth management, and asset management. He most recently served as an advisor to KKR, evaluating strategic M&A opportunities within the asset and wealth management sectors.
Prior to his role at KKR, Buehlmann was the Global Chief Executive Officer of Aberdeen Investments, where he directed the firm’s global investment operations while concurrently heading its Asia Pacific business. His career also features nearly three decades at UBS, which included 15 years in Asia Pacific holding key executive roles such as Head of Asset Management Asia Pacific.
In his new post, Buehlmann will oversee Franklin Templeton’s regional business strategy, aiming to scale its exchange-traded funds (ETFs), private markets, and digital asset capabilities across major markets in APAC.
