NEW DELHI – External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar held high-level telephonic discussions with his counterparts from Kuwait and Singapore on Monday to address the intensifying crisis in the Middle East. The diplomatic outreach comes as a U.S. naval blockade on Iranian ports takes effect, significantly heightening regional tensions.
In his conversation with Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, Jaishankar focused on the regional security situation and specifically discussed the well-being of the Indian community residing in the Gulf nation. Parallelly, his dialogue with Singaporean FM Vivian Balakrishnan centered on the broader implications of the West Asia conflict, particularly as the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz threatens to disrupt nearly 20% of global oil and LNG supplies.
