NEW DELHI — In a major leadership move, OpenAI has appointed Prabhjeet Singh, the current President of Uber India and South Asia, as its new Managing Director for India.
Singh is set to officially join the artificial intelligence research company in September, where he will report directly to Kiran Mani, OpenAI’s Managing Director for Asia Pacific. In his new role, Singh will oversee OpenAI’s consumer and enterprise business operations, steer strategic partnerships, handle regulatory engagement, and spearhead overall operations within the country.
According to a statement from OpenAI, Singh’s mandate will center heavily on expanding local partnerships, fostering India’s AI ecosystem, and driving the acceleration of AI adoption across businesses, public sector units, and institutions.
End of a Decade-Long Journey at Uber
Uber confirmed Singh’s upcoming departure, acknowledging his extensive contributions over the past ten years.
“We thank Prabhjeet for his leadership and lasting contributions in his decade-long journey with Uber,” an Uber spokesperson stated. “We remain deeply committed to our next phase of growth in India.”
