STOCKHOLM / BENGALURU: Global caller identification and communication platform Truecaller has appointed tech and consumer business veteran Sandeep Bhushan to its Board of Directors. Bhushan joins the board as an independent director, bringing over two decades of operational experience across technology ecosystems, digital media, and fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG).
The strategic board addition comes as Truecaller seeks to diversify its monetization streams and solidify its market footprint across high-growth digital economies, particularly within the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region.
A Career Across Global Tech and Consumer Giants
Bhushan’s professional background covers leadership stints at some of the world’s largest digital advertising, technology, and consumer networks:
-
Meta: Most recently, he served as the India Director of Global Marketing Solutions, where he engineered ad-tech monetization frameworks, scaled enterprise marketing solutions, and managed large-scale digital brand transitions.
-
Samsung: He led the core marketing and telecommunications operator partnerships for the South Korean tech giant’s smartphone business in India, driving product placement and market share growth.
-
WSJ-Mint: He was a founding member and Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the financial daily Mint during its strategic collaboration with The Wall Street Journal.
-
Unilever: Bhushan launched his professional career at the multinational consumer goods major, spending over a decade in various foundational and regional marketing leadership roles.
Balancing Digital Trust and Revenue Diversification
Commenting on his appointment, Sandeep Bhushan highlighted the operational intersection of consumer safety and platform growth:
“Truecaller has built a powerful platform at global scale, where trust and monetisation must evolve together. As digital ecosystems mature, getting this balance right becomes a key differentiator. I look forward to engaging with the Board and management team to help shape the next phase of the company’s continued growth journey.”
Welcoming him to the leadership circle, Nami Zarringhalam, Co-founder of Truecaller, pointed to Bhushan’s deep regional insights:
“Sandeep’s appointment to the Board marks an important addition. His strong background in scaling monetisation and consumer franchises across top global platforms will bring valuable perspective to our journey, along with a strong understanding of high-growth markets like India and APAC.”
Corporate Governance and Independence
In alignment with international corporate governance standards, Truecaller confirmed that Bhushan holds no equity shares in the company. He is classified as an independent director in relation to the company, its core management, and its major institutional shareholders.
Outside of his new assignment at Truecaller, Bhushan continues to serve on the Board of Directors for Indian consumer health-tech startup Traya Health. His advisory mandate at Truecaller will focus on optimizing the brand’s multiple revenue pipelines, including Truecaller for Business, premium subscriptions, and its localized digital advertising platform.
