NEW DELHI — In a prominent development within the Indian media industry, veteran journalist, anchor, and content professional Sumiit Lakhutia is reportedly moving to Network18.
Lakhutia brings nearly two decades of deep editorial and broadcasting experience across television, digital media, and business journalism to his new role at the media conglomerate.
A Decade of Editorial Leadership at Times Network
Prior to this transition, Lakhutia had a distinguished tenure of nearly ten years at Times Network, where he most recently served as Senior News Editor.
-
Core Portfolio: He directed the network’s specialized content and special projects, with a core focus on business, banking, and financial services (BFSI).
-
On-Air Presence: Lakhutia was a prominent face across the network’s flagship channels, regularly anchoring programs on Times Now, ET Now, and Mirror Now.
-
Multi-Platform Execution: Beyond active news anchoring, he spearheaded branded content initiatives, hosted special shows, lent his voice as a voiceover artist, and anchored large-scale on-ground events for both the television and digital divisions.
Return to familiar territory
Lakhutia’s reported move to Network18 marks a homecoming of sorts. Earlier in his career, he spent approximately six years at CNBC-TV18—Network18’s business news channel. During that stint, he served as a Producer for Special Projects, an anchor, and a voice artist.
Before committing fully to his media career nearly twenty years ago, Lakhutia was associated with his family’s business operations. His return to Network18 comes at a time when major media houses are actively consolidating their editorial leadership to better integrate television broadcast with digital-first financial journalism.
