Ms. Valsa Nair-Singh, a seasoned 1991 batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the Maharashtra cadre, has been appointed as the Chairperson of the Maharashtra Electricity Regulatory Commission (MERC). Known for her extensive experience in administrative leadership, particularly in the energy and tourism sectors, she takes over the regulatory body at a critical juncture for the state’s power sector. Her appointment is expected to bring a balanced approach to tariff regulation, renewable energy integration, and consumer grievance redressal in one of India’s most industrialised states.
