In recognition of their “most exceptional service of a high order,” five senior flag officers of the Indian Navy have been honored with the Param Vishisht Seva Medal (PVSM) on the occasion of India’s 77th Republic Day (2026). While the initial report referred to them as “Army officers,” these individuals represent the top tier of Naval and Medical leadership. The awardees include prominent figures like Vice Admiral Krishna Swaminathan, the Vice Chief of Naval Staff, and Surg Vice Admiral Arti Sarin, who continues to break barriers in the Armed Forces Medical Services. These honors highlight their strategic contributions to maritime security, indigenous ship-building, and tri-services integration.
