NEW DELHI – Shri Divakar Jayant, a senior officer of the Indian Naval Armament Service (INAS), has officially assumed the role of Director General of Naval Armament (DGONA) at Naval Headquarters, Ministry of Defence, on February 2, 2026.
He succeeds Shri P. Upadhyay, who retired from the service on January 31, 2026.
As DGONA, Shri Jayant will oversee the policies, procurement, and maintenance of naval weaponry, playing a critical role in the Indian Navy’s operational readiness and modernization efforts.
