NEW DELHI (Feb 16, 2026) — Speaking at the AI Impact Summit 2026 at Bharat Mandapam, AAP Member of Parliament Raghav Chadha declared that India has emerged as a pivotal voice in the global governance of artificial intelligence.
Chadha emphasized that AI has transitioned from a niche technology to a vital strategic asset, comparing its geopolitical importance in the 21st century to the role oil and steel played in the 20th century.
The Three Global Monopolies
Chadha warned that the global AI landscape is currently controlled by a narrow group of players through three major monopolies:
-
Design Control: Concentration of AI development within a few massive corporations.
-
Manufacturing Concentration: Hardware production limited to specific geographic regions.
-
Export Restrictions: Trade barriers and restrictive policies imposed by nations like the U.S.
India’s Strength: “Talent Without Compute is Aspiration”
While noting that India does not yet control the “three pillars” of AI, Chadha highlighted the nation’s primary advantage: Human Capital.
-
The Talent Pool: The global market is increasingly dependent on Indian professionals to drive AI innovation.
-
The Challenge: Chadha cautioned that talent alone is insufficient, stating, “Talent without compute is aspiration.” He urged the government to prioritize domestic high-end computing resources and diversify supply chains.
Looking Ahead
The Rajya Sabha member called for decisive action to secure India’s place in the new global order, focusing on using AI for the public interest while building robust digital infrastructure.
