KOLKATA — In a sweeping move just hours after announcing the 2026 Assembly election schedule, the Election Commission of India (ECI) ordered the immediate transfer of West Bengal’s top two bureaucrats. Dushyant Nariala has been appointed as the new Chief Secretary, while Sanghamitra Ghosh takes over as the Principal Secretary, Home and Hill Affairs.
The ECI directed both officers to assume their new charges by 3:00 PM today, March 16, 2026.
