NEW DELHI – In a major leadership transition for India’s largest carrier, IndiGo has named aviation veteran William “Willie” Walsh as its new Chief Executive Officer. Walsh, the former head of British Airways and the parent company IAG, is set to join the airline on August 3, 2026.
The appointment follows the departure of Pieter Elbers, who stepped down on March 10, 2026, following a period of significant network-wide flight disruptions.
