Kolkata | April 10, 2026 — Union Home Minister Amit Shah released the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) “Sankalp Patra” for the upcoming West Bengal Assembly elections today, outlining a vision for “Sonar Bangla.” The manifesto focuses heavily on financial assistance for women and youth, while setting a hard deadline for legal reforms.
Key Promises: Women & Social Welfare
The central pillar of the BJP’s campaign is the economic empowerment of women.
-
Financial Aid: A monthly assistance of ₹3,000 for women to ensure financial independence.
-
Employment: 33% reservation for women in the police force and all government jobs.
-
Lakhpati Didis: A target to create 75 lakh “Lakhpati Didis” across the state.
-
Safety: One women-only police station in every mandal and dedicated help desks in all existing stations.
Legal & Administrative Reforms
Amit Shah reiterated the party’s commitment to a Uniform Civil Code (UCC), promising its implementation within six months of forming the government to ensure “one law for every citizen.”
For government employees, the BJP promised to resolve long-standing issues regarding Dearness Allowance (DA) and pledged to implement the 7th Pay Commission within 45 days of taking office.
Agriculture and Youth Support
To court the agrarian and younger vote banks, the manifesto includes:
-
Farmers: An additional ₹3,000 annually under PM-Kisan (bringing total aid to ₹9,000), and a guaranteed paddy procurement price of ₹3,100 per quintal.
-
Youth: A monthly allowance of ₹3,000 for recent graduates and a one-time grant of ₹15,000 to assist with competitive exam preparation.
“Detect, Delete, and Deport”
On the issue of security, the Home Minister announced a “zero tolerance” policy toward infiltration. He stated that a BJP government would act decisively to “detect, delete, and deport” illegal infiltrators to protect the state’s cultural identity.
Election Schedule
The high-stakes battle for West Bengal will be conducted in two phases:
-
Phase 1 (April 23): 152 seats.
-
Phase 2 (April 29): 142 seats.
Amit Shah concluded the launch by describing the manifesto as a “renewed hope” for citizens, contrasting it with what he called a “nightmare” 15-year tenure of the Mamata Banerjee-led TMC government.
