NEW DELHI — In a major administrative restructuring aimed at strengthening the governance and operational capacity of the National Testing Agency (NTA), the Central Government on Saturday approved the high-level appointments of two senior bureaucrats as Joint Secretaries to the premier examination body.
The official directive, issued by the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances, and Pensions (Department of Personnel & Training), confirmed that the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has cleared the inductions of senior civil servants Ms. Anuja Bapat and Ms. Ruchita Vij to the agency.
Key Appointments and Tenures
According to the official government order (No. 33/09/2026-EO(SM-I)), the details of the newly appointed leadership include:

Ms. Anuja Bapat, ISS (1998 Batch): Appointed as Joint Secretary, NTA, under the Department of Higher Education. Her tenure is set for five years from the date of assumption of charge, or until further orders.

Ms. Ruchita Vij, IRS (C&IT) (2004 Batch): Appointed as Joint Secretary, NTA, under the Department of Higher Education under identical terms, serving a five-year tenure or until further orders.
To facilitate these high-profile appointments, the central government has approved the temporary upgradation of two vacant Deputy Secretary/Director-level posts within the NTA to the rank of Joint Secretary for an initial period of two years.
