Former West Bengal cadre IPS officer Mrityunjay Kumar Singh (1987 batch) is set to assume charge as the Director of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Kolkata Kendra, effective August 1, 2026. In this role, he will oversee the organization’s regional footprint, which includes two major schools, a management institute, a Kala Kendra, and a sports academy in West Bengal.
Singh brings a distinguished administrative record across law enforcement, international diplomacy, and cultural administration. During his service, he held key postings including Superintendent of Police (SP) in Murshidabad and undivided Midnapore, Director handling Bangladesh affairs in the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), Regional Passport Officer, and Counsellor (Culture) at the Indian Embassy in Jakarta, Indonesia.
