In a key leadership move within India’s public broadcasting apparatus, senior Indian Information Service (IIS) officer Rina Sonowal has been appointed as the Director General of Doordarshan.
Sonowal, a 1994-batch IIS officer, has been elevated to the Selection Grade (Director General level) following recommendations by the Departmental Promotion Committee and approval from the competent authority. Prior to this elevation, she served on central deputation as Joint Secretary in the Department of Higher Education under the Ministry of Education.
