Vice Admiral AN Pramod, AVSM, YSM, assumed charge as the Deputy Chief of Naval Staff (DCNS) on August 1, 2026. He succeeds Vice Admiral Tarun Sobti, UYSM, AVSM, VSM, who superannuated from active naval service on July 31, 2026, after an illustrious military career spanning over 38 years.
Prior to taking over as DCNS, Vice Admiral Pramod served as the Director General Naval Operations (DGNO) from December 13, 2023, to July 31, 2026. In a distinguished career spanning over 36 years, the Flag Officer has held key operational and staff appointments both afloat and ashore, including commanding INS Satpura, INS Shardul, INS Abhay, and INS Utkrosh. In recognition of his operational leadership and service, he was awarded the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal (AVSM) in 2024 and the Yudh Seva Medal (YSM) in 2025.
