In a significant move to strengthen the state’s senior police leadership, the Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has formally notified the induction of five State Police Service (SPS) officers from the 1997–98 batches into the Indian Police Service (IPS) cadre. This decision follows a comprehensive reassessment by a newly constituted Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) in New Delhi, which aimed to ensure a transparent, merit-based selection process. While five officers have been cleared for elevation, the promotions of the two most senior officers on the list remain under review due to pending administrative inquiries.
